Computer maintenance can be both physical (dust removal, etc.) and software. The second is more related to the operating system, since the software maintenance of the PC itself at home is only an update to the BIOS of the motherboard.
In all other cases, software maintenance refers to the work of cleaning and optimizing the operating system. All this is done using special programs, which are listed in the article.

Samurize is relevant for Windows XP, as there are default sidebars in Vista and Win7.

There are a number of programs of this class with the same functionality or with much larger. However, having tried a dozen of them, I came to the conclusion that either the purges are ostentatious or too thorough, which ultimately leads to unstable operation of the system. Therefore, I stopped my choice on this program.

When the system is running, the registry file is completely downloaded into RAM, so the smaller it is, the better. In addition to this, registry fragmentation slows down the speed of working with it. And since the system constantly accesses the registry, the speed of the system, respectively, also decreases.
