Monitor

The monitor is no secret to anyone, it shows us a picture, it’s difficult to work without it. At the moment, on the market you can find LCD monitors. In fact, there are two monitor formats, so to speak, ordinary and widescreen. Normal, this is a monitor with an aspect ratio of 4: 3, widescreen have several ratios, but mostly it’s 16: 9. In general, now, if you do not take the old technologies, there are several options for the display: LCD (LCD), plasma panel (PDP, no monitors, but there are TVs), OLED (so far new), and laser (so far only plans) . I mentioned televisions because they are increasingly being put on like a monitor for a computer, but this is a personal matter.
So, in stores we can find LCD and OLED monitors, we are waiting for laser ones. They are distinguished by a higher quality image, greater contrast, etc. To put it simply, the LCD is the first technology, and then the development goes on, OLED is the second, the laser technology is the 3rd, but this is for monitors.

A monitor is a component of a computer that hardly changes or rarely changes, so you should approach it more carefully. You can certainly write a lot about its characteristics, and I will write, briefly, but the most important thing in the monitor when choosing it is the image, it is important that it satisfies you, and the technologies and other characteristics are not so important. But to be sure, I would recommend watching the monitor on various tests, films, games, so that you can see the full fill with one color of the screen (sometimes annoying when black is shown with some kind of dark gray), some static images and of course see how he shows the dynamics.
And now a little about the characteristics: aspect ratio, screen size, resolution, color depth, grain or pixel size, screen refresh rate, pixel response time, viewing angle.

Aspect ratio – as it was said above, in fact it is standard 4: 3 and widescreen 16: 9. It is believed that the ratio of 16: 9 is better perceived by the eyes, but personally to me they are very unusual, and therefore do not like. Here it is worth seeing whether you like this form or not.
Screen size – the size of the screen diagonal, usually written in inches. You cannot recommend anything specific. More information can fit on the big screen, as a rule, and the resolution is greater, but, let’s say, for games, the big screen can become a universal evil. Again, the choice is yours, which one you like best.
Resolution is the number of dots on the screen per square inch. Higher resolution makes the picture sharper and more detailed, but only if this picture (game movie, etc.) is designed for such a resolution. In general, this is the desired parameter, everything is simple: the higher the maximum resolution, the better!
Color depth – 32 bits for all monitors. Previously, this parameter was important, but those days are over.
Grain size is the size of a dot on the screen, of course, the smaller the better, but this parameter has not been used for several years, so it should not bother you.
The screen refresh rate is for 60-75Hz LCD monitors, in general this parameter was categorically important for CRT-based monitors, it is useless for LCD monitors, because 60Hz is enough, they do not strain your eyes, and do not spoil your eyesight like a CRT.
Response time – actually shows how quickly the monitor responds to image changes. With a high value of this characteristic (for example, 25ms), dynamic scenes did not look, let’s say so. But now the bulk of monitors has a response speed of up to 12 ms, or even 5 ms, so it’s not critical, but it’s better to watch dynamic scenes on the selected monitor.
Viewing angle – now it’s sorted out with viewing angles. Previously, due to the small viewing angles, there was a slight distortion of colors played (up to the complete loss of image) when looking at the monitor from the sides. But as I said, this issue has already been resolved, although once again clarifying and looking will not hurt.
Once again I repeat, it does not matter what parameters the monitor has, the most important thing is that you like how it shows !!! And the monitor is not the thing you should spare the money on!

Consider the recordings of monitors from the price list: Acer LCD 21.5 “S221HQLbd [LED, 1920×1080, DC 12M: 1, 5ms, 160hor / 160ver, DVI, D-Sub, TCO03]
Acer – manufacturer
LCD – a designation that it is an LCD monitor
21.5 “- diagonal size in inches
S221HQLbd – model
LED – LED backlighting is used, sharper colors and tints
1920×1080 – screen resolution
DC 12M: 1 – dynamic contrast, 12M: 1, should not be confused simply with contrast, dynamic contrast is achieved by some hardware solutions, is not related to static contrast
5ms – response time
160gor / 160ver – viewing angles
DVI, D-Sub – monitor connector
TCO03 – TCO’03 certification standard

Nec LCD 24 “2490WUxi2 [IPS, 1920×1200, 1000: 1, 8ms, 178gor / 178ver, DVI, TCO03]
Nec – manufacturer
LCD – a designation that it is an LCD monitor
24 “- diagonal size in inches
2490WUxi2 – Model
